May Tag Questions
May has come to an end... and it struck me that this Period Drama Challenge is almost over! :( It's quite a sad thought. Again, I haven't seen a great deal of period films this month, only one more than last month, but both are excellent films.
Well, here are the tag questions from Miss Laurie of Old Fashioned Charm, who is hosting this wonderful challenge that is almost over (Boo hoo!)

1. What period dramas have you watched in May?
Only the next two Hornblower films: Mutiny and Retribution
I have -finally! - completed my review for Mutiny and am currently working on a review for Retribution.

2. Do you enjoy period drama set murder mysteries (such as Hercule Poirot or Sherlock Holmes)?
Yes, YES, YES!!!
I love murder mysteries.
My very favourite are Hercule Poirot (David Suchet is Poirot, people) films. All Agatha Christie is good, but Poirot is best. And the most wonderful thing about it is that a lot of Agatha Christie's films can be found on YouTube! If only I could find a partner to watch it with... :( Sometimes they're just a little too scary for my usual movie partner, my little sister.
Also, I really enjoy the old TV series Murder, She Wrote and Diagnosis Murder... and the very few Basil Rathbone Sherlock films I've seen were pretty good, though a little scary too. :) How I would love to see Mr. Rathbone in The Hound of the Baskervilles... *shiver*

3. If you could choose any period drama character's wardrobe to wear for a day, which character
would you choose?
Eek... Miss Laurie, you always pick the tricky questions don't you? :)
I'll try to narrow it down, as there are characters from different historical periods...
Okay, first, I'd like to wear Margaret Hale's dresses from North and South. They aren't bright, but she has such feminine grace and charm to her outfits. And her hair! It's just beautiful...

Next, would be Danielle DeBarbaraque (excuse my spelling) from Ever After... especially the scenes where she is pretending to be Countess Nicole DeLoncraeux (again, pardon the spelling)... These dresses are gorgeous. To spend a day in these (or a day a dress preferably... maybe two or three days in the ball gown) would make me feel like I'm part of a fairy tale. And again... she has beautiful hair.
Third, I'd love to have Evelyn's wardrobe from Pearl Harbour (review coming soon!). I'm a sucker for the 1940's and she has so many pretty, feminine, classy outfits... Also another actress with beautiful hair - a lot longer than what was fashionable for the day, but still beautiful.
4. Have you ever watched a period drama solely because your favourite actor was in it?
Yes, I have. One of the reasons I was so keen to watch the Hornblower series was because it starred Ioan Gruffudd from Amazing Grace. And also one of the reasons I wanted to see Emma (2009) was because it starred Ramola Garai from... erm... Amazing Grace :)
5. How many Louisa May Alcott adaptations have you seen?
Not many...
Many years ago I saw Little Women (1994). While sitting in a hospital waiting room, I saw parts of a version of Little Men - at the time I thought it was very accurate to the book. And a good friend (who shares movie tastes with me) made me sit and watch The Inheritance, which I loved. :) Ignorant me, I didn't even know that Louisa May Alcott had written that book. :/
